Professional Associations

Hi all

Been away for a while been manic with exams etc etc, hope you are all ok!

I have just had my reflexology exam results (Itec) which I passed so that is really good.

Just wondered if anyone would recomend joining any proffesional associations and if so which ones?

congratulations on passing! ITEC are usually associated with Embody (I think it may also be called Complementary Therapists Association).

Well done and congrats and hope you have lots of fun with your reflex. Embody's website is www.embodyforyou.com or you can do a search on Complementary Therapist Associaton as per Sportstherapy's post above. Personally for me it I found them the best for my insurance plus I gained a few clients through my listing on their website. Here in Ireland the private health companies e.g. bupa, vhi etc will let their members claim back some money off a reflexology treatment though the therapist has to be registered with certain associations such as the Irish Reflexologists Institute which I believe is connected to the AOR in the UK Unfortunately being a member of Embody isn't sufficient to offer this to clients. Hope this helps a bit. Perhaps some of the reflexologists here can offer advice.

ITEC qualifictions are also accepted by FHT for membership of MICHT. Both Embody and FHT have local support groups so have a look at both and see what will provide you with the most of what you want from a professional association.

The best in the Uk is The Association of Reflexologists www.aor.org.uk They have 8000+ members, a huge support base, local groups, seminars ,courses and people on the end of the phone if you have problems. Insurance is good and membership is cheap.

Reflexguy, unfortunately the AoR doesn't except ITEC qualifications.

Congrats on passing your reflexology exam. I am a member of the BRA or British Reflexology Association they also offer insurance and courses for CPD. I am not sure what their requirements are for membership but you can contact them on http://www.britreflex.co.uk/
