I have a prolapsed L4-L5 disc. I could not walk without crutches for 2 months. It's now been about a week that I've been able to walk (very slowly) without the crutches, so it apparently is healing. But I still have pain and lots of tingling and pins and needles. How long does it take for the disc material that has come out of the disc, and is irritating the nerve root and causing the pain and tingling, to be absorbed by the body? I have been recommended for surgery but I'm hoping to avoid it. I'm receiving low intensity laser therapy. Again, how long does it take for the inner disc material to be absorbed by the body?
