Prolapsed discs - desperate urgent situation - please help

hello, i am in a desperate situation.

i have 2 prolapsed discs - 1 not too much bother - 1 l5/s1? so bad i cannot walk with the pain. i have pushed through so much pain with this since my first child over 3 years ago. unbelievably i am still waiting to be seen on the nhs despite begging letters from other doctors and 1 more pregnancy. i also have a 7 month old baby. the pain has been very bad but last week a cab went over a speed bump without seeing it and since then i have to lie for 40 minutes to walk in excruciating agony for a few months.

my husband has serious personal problems and took off immediately after the birth 7 months ago. however, he is in permanent crisis and i am constantly trying to deal with him so crying a lot. he is also not helping me at all with the children. eventhis week with the hospital. because of the nature of his problems only 1 of his friends is aware and is out of his depth. our families know but dont care so are no help. most people do not know we are seperated and i am avoiding almost everyone.

i had spinal injections on my insurance (last time)in desperation on thursday but am still in extreme pain. for the last 7 months i have had numbness around my heel. i had a limp but this has improved. since thursday i think i hhave some light numbness on my upper thigh.

i cannot walk. i have temporary paid help but am running out of money very fast. please help me. there is noone to look after my children.

i have lived with a lot of pain for many years but this is of the scale.

i can't sit down so i have had to type this in several gos!

is there any chance the injections will still work?

what does surgery mean in terms of time in hospital, restrictions temporarily and permanently? lifting children etc.

is it successful?

is there anything else i can do?

can anybody recommend specialists in london?

Hi, I'm not a dr or surgeon, so please don't quote me on this. Having worked with many patients post spinal operations, the success for pain relief is probably about 40%. What I have found is many patients still experience chronic pain even post surgery. Likewise, injections will either work or not work. For some this means repeat injections weekly, for others monthly, and for the lucky few every few years or less.

Not wanting to put you off - It is still worth discussing with your Dr regards the success rate to get another opinion.

I personally would recommend hypnotherapy as a first option - 80% success rate with regards pain relief.

It is worth looking at all your options in preference to surgery.

i have a same kind of injury as and did get injection ? but before i did i went to a homeapath and that relived some of the pain i was init is also not that dear and the stress of what your going through can make the pain worse its bad enough your in pain without the stress i feel for you and if you keep ringing to hospital and keep ringing the will give you and early appointment it worked for me i hope you get seen to soon
