proposal letter

I would like to prepare a proposal letter for my massage services and send out to several of the OB/GYN offices around my area as well as chiropractors. I have found several samples in some of the marketing books I have, but most of them seem to be written as if you already know the physcian and their practice, which for the ones I'm sending out, I do not know them personally. Does anyone have any ideas they might like to pass along that would help me with this letter?

I'm currently doing outcalls, but thought within this letter suggest I could come to their office 1-2 days a week and work out of for their clients. Any thoughts?

I did this a few years ago. I did an introduction about myself, a tib bit about massage thearpy and then said something to the effects of not knowing or not if they had a therapsit already in place in their office but would like to offer a free half hour to the Dr. Hope this helps some. If I can find the copy I'll pass it along.

If you don't mind me asking, how were the results with your letter? Were you able to get more clients and/or did the docs take you up on the offer to demo massage for them?

A few months ago I actually sent out an email similar to what you described for the letter to several midwives and doulas in my area. They did not have actual mailing addresses at least that I could find. Unfortunately, I did not receive one response, nothing. I thought I might try again in addition to an actual letter with brochure to the offices that I mentioned.

If you can find the letter you sent and would like to send it to me that would be great. Thanks again for your response, I really appreciate it.

Unfortunatly the business I did it for, closed up shortly after I sent all the letters out. I have one more place to look for the letter.

I will 2nd that... I am trying to put together a proposal letter too. I have decided to propose $15 per massage that I do and then re-visit it in a month to see how it's going for both the birthing center and myself.

If anyone has put together any proposals yet, I would LOVE to see them.

I've looked for the one I used and can't find it. Must have deleted it while cleaning my folders.

It was to all the Chiro's in the area. I did an intro about myself, time as a massage therapist, background, etc. Said sometihng ot the effect of not knowing if they offered Massage Therapy, how massage could help clients and poss. of working together. Then offered each Chiro a free 30 min. massage to feel my work.

Sounds like you need an "in" to the birthing community! Do you know any doulas personally? Or midwives? In my area there are multiple listservs for birth professionals, which covers mostly doulas and midwives but the occasional webster chiropractor, prenatal massage therapist and women's health specialist acupuncturist make it on the list. If you have something like this in your area you could do some serious networking. Start attending the LLL annual conferences, see if you can be a guest speaker and demo some infant massage and pass out flyers on the benefits of massage during pregnancy. If you have children, join local parents groups and occasionally mention that you're looking for referrals for this population.

As for the letters to the doctors - I've never had a peep of a reply from sending those out. However, I do send them invitations to my open house ("come check us out") and network every time I see my health care providers. 8)
