Hi Guys

Thought I'd share with you my private texting method. May help some of you guys out in the process!

FYI I am using an apple phone.

I wanted to have a second number for this hobby that nobody knows. I went to SHAW and got that (I got a free number...I think you get five per account if you have the right hight speed internet account). So I have 2 numbers on my iPhone now. However, the messages show up as one stream...not messages on one number and messages on the second number. Also it becomes apparent that you have 2 numbers on the phone. So if you give anyone your phone they see messages from both numbers at once. I keep both numbers as it is nice to have a primary and secondary number. I just don't use these for this hobby anymore.

The last little while I've been using an app calledTextNow. Completely free (has ads of course) and I bury the app in one of my folders so it is hard to find. When you sign up you pick your number and it has local area codes. I never tried calling with this number, but I have been texting with it often. It shows up as a regular text on other peoples phones. You open your app to retrieve messages. The official messages app remains legit, and your private app is hidden away and nobody knows you have an extra number! Works for me! I turned off notifications so there is never any accidental "ding" and I only look when I am setting up appointments.

I use the TextNow app and it's easy to use. Also has option for a code or fingerprint lock, so no one else can open it.
Calls work, but quality is not good.

Probably not an issue for most guys on this forum, but if you don’t use the number for a while you lose it and will have to be assigned a complete different number.

I think you are good for at least a couple of weeks if not a month, but don’t quote me on that. You do get a text from TextNow warning you however.

I have textme which works similar. There must be a way to tell because some folks know that I use a text app. I don't really care if they know.

yes TextNow will at least give a warning about losing the number. The calls are ok and really the best completely free option i have found. I used to use Burner on iphone - it was good but cost credits, and then they changed the credits options and its not a good deal anymore so i stopped. but then my number was lost to a few long-timers, which sucked. I found that with Burner, no one every knew i was using a text-app (which many providers post they won't accept msgs from). But with TextNow i have been told to use a real number twice already.

one thing to know is that when you choose a number off these apps, you don't know the history behind these numbers. I have looked up the number given a couple times to find that it had a history as a scam number, or associated with some other adult service. Ladies will research the numbers i have found, so i've paid closer attention.
