Psp newbie. I need help real bad.?

So anyway, i bought a psp quite some time ago. My friend downgraded/upgraded mine so that i can play downloaded games. So i haven't been playing for awhile and now the new Loco Roco 2 came out. And when i downloaded it, i could see it on my psp screen but i can't seem to play it because after the screen of 'sony' thingy disappears (meaning that the game is starting, if you get what i mean) , there is nothing going on. The screen is blank. Im a total newbie in this upgrading/downgradin. Please help me. Im not gonna go to the official website because my friend didnt download it there in the first place. I just want to play my games. Thats all.
And i just checked, the system is 3.40 OE. If it helps.

im sorry i hadn't include this earlier. But my friend has experienced some unsuccessful upgrade on someone's psp and therefore he dare not take the risk. I need some help, thanks kayreo.

ok.seeing your problem here....from what i experienced myself.certain games could not run on certain custom firmware.since Loco Roco 2 is a new game,it might not work with your current Custom Firmware (3.40 OE).you would want to upgrade your custom firmware to enable your PSP to play current games.i think the current firmware right now is 5.00 M33-6.i'm using this firmware.(see how far behind yours is?).since you have a friend who can upgrade your psp for you,i won't explain how to upgrade your psp.anyway....you should be able to play Loco Roco 2 once you upgrade yours.if it still doesn't work,the game might be faulty.otherwise,you should have no problems.hope that helped.^_^ hohohoh....
