Hi all!  Hope that everyone is well and prosperous, and enjoying the spring!Well, I'm anticipating my last large tax return, being officially self employed this year and no longer overpaying my federal, and am looking to upgrade my practice.  When I worked at the spa, one of the modalities I performed was hot stone massage, and would like to offer it in my practice.Could anyone suggest the best place to buy the stones, which are the best type, and how much I can expect to pay?  Also, would it be less expensive if I bought the items separately, or in one big kit?  I have gemstones already, so don't need chakra stones, and I've seen roaster ovens for around $30 locally, but I'm wondering how much of a pain it would be to try to locate everything.Another question, the stone massage the spa had me do was okay, but I'm sure there are better ways to utilize them.  Can anyone suggest a good video or techniques?  Thanks a million!Namaste,Carole

I bought a set from massagewarehouse.com. Looking back, I could have bought the roaster at Walmart, and just got the stones form massagewarehouse. Prob would have been cheaper for me :}

I advocate collecting them yourself.  However this is a very time consuming activity which is pretty much impossible if you don't live by an ocean or volcanic riverbed.  I'm in the process of building a small stone pot to use at home (I have 2 at the office, one of hand collected stones and one from Massage Warehouse), and decided to get them at the local landscaping store.  I got 7 mexican beach stones for $4.50 (.45 a pound).  It took me 20 minutes to find 3 matching pairs.  I couldn't find a match for the 7th stone, but I'll keep checking back.  The set I got from the Massage Warehouse is definitely functional, but I prefer to hand pick my own stones.  My $.02

I bought a set of stones from Bodyworkmall.com and they were a lousy set.  Hard to find matched pairs.  Not worth it.  I bought the deluxe level II set from Thstone and they are great.

Regarding learning technique:  Check out http://www.sacredstonehealing.com .  I did not learn stone massage from Karyn Chabot, but have had several massage sessions with her.  Her work is unbelievably exquisite.  One of my massage students has her video and has taken her stone massage certification and thinks very highly of what she teaches.  You may also want to check out healing stone massage by Carollane Crichton.  I have read great reviews on her videos.  Again, I did not learn from her, but worked for and with her 11 years ago when I was first starting out.  She was an old pro then, even before she produced the videos.  Let us know what you decide.Cassandra
