Put yourself in this scenario

Okay, imagine this. You have just graduated and a friend in the area in which you live says he will build you a building and rent it to you. He tells you to decide what type of building you will need, how many rooms, how many square feet, and exactly what you would like to have. If this were to happen to you, what would you want for your new massage therapy clinic? How would you make it appealing to your customers, make them feel relaxed? Would you have two rooms, three, or would you have a room for a kitchen to have for yourself when you are not working and just want to relax and have lunch? What services would you offer? Would you have a sauna, someone who did manicures and pedicures? How would you want your business? Be creative!!

Yowza! I will have to think about this for a bit but my first question is -- he's really reliable, right? I mean really, really reliable, and willing to put things in writing for your mutual protection?

I'm just always so cautious. But it sounds like a gorgeous opportunity if everything works out. Congratulations!

Sometimes my ideal space has a meditation room, a yoga room, a bodywork room, a small sitting area, and a small office.

Other times my ideal space has just a sitting area and a bodywork room.

Yet other times I would love to have a space with many rooms where other practitioners could come and I could make money by not working.

I am not fresh out of school and my ideal space changes so often. The only thing for certain is that what I thought I wanted when I was fresh out of school is definitely not what I want now.

What are some of your ideal space visions?

Hmmm...my ideal clinic would have a large reception room with big,open windows so lots of sun could come in,a reception area with a consultation office next to that,a large open kitchenette, 2-4 large 20x24 treatment rooms,a washer/dryer room with a large open linen closet. I probably would also have a hydraulic table tout back I would set up a canopied meditation garden so I could always have a place to ground and center myself,no matter the weather. I would also have an herb garden planted so I could use them for my clients ailments. I would have a 10-disc CD changer with surround sound so I would not have to switch CD's all the time. I would have at least 2 hydrocollators for moist heat treataments as well.Overall my ideal treatment clinic would have space for sublets with a ND or Acu if I desired. Just a perfect space for optimal healing on all levels!

Don't forget the wet room for the muds and salt rubs. An area for eating for employees is a must with a stove, refridgerator, sink and pans et, al. A room with no table, just a mat and music for Thai and Shiatsu. A theraputic pool for my Watsu clients with a hot tub to use after treatments or for just because. I'll have to think some more on this one......... 8)

Wow! I was just reading through some old threads and I forgot I even wrote this.....

I just moved my business into this 'ideal space scenario' at the beginning of July!!

Anything you have to have that quick {told on Friday and need to know by Monday}, you might want to think about a little more. It sounds a little too quick for me. But, it was posted back in March, so I too am interested to hear what happened with the "deal".

One of the best massage experiences I ever had was at the Cayce-Reilly Institute in Virginia Beach. It incorporated a steam closet before I had my massage. SO I would have a hydro room for that, with a shower and if money was no object, a jacuzzi. It would be very tranquil in it's decor.

I'd have a meditation room where people could go sit for a spell before leaving, and a large room where I could hold my workshops. Several rooms for other therapists and modalities, a kitchenette, a receiving area with a built in fountain (with fishies!) a laundry room/storage area and I'd be set.

Leener, I live close to Va Beach, and have never tried Cayce! I will now, thanks for the heads up! Do you live out in that area, or were you just visiting?

I was on my honeymoon there. I love that area. I have read all of Cayce's books and heard their massage school/clinic was great. So we booked ourselves treatments. Everything done to you is done according to the Cayce channelings.

So mine started with a steam cabinet infused with a lot of pure lavender oil (they had different oils according to what ails you) for about 15 mins. Your therapist stays with you and gives you sips of water throughout (your head is out of the cabinet)

By the time I was done with that my muscles were so slack and I felt so relaxed. Then I had a loooong massage from the Cayce research that was so incredible, my husband had to walk me around the building 5 times to bring me back to Earth.

That day is actually the day that changed my life. Because I said to him, "If this is what massage is, I have to do this for other people" and he said "why don't you?" . I had been doing energywork for a while, but this was a different modality I knew I HAD to incorporate. When we got back from our honeymoon, I signed up for a holistic massage school and that was that!

It truly was a "healing massage". I had been getting massage for years, but that was the best I ever had, to this day.
