Well, they're officially a protected species across all States & Territories under the Native Fauna Act, (ie: all varieties of kangaroos and wallabies), however, in a rare show of common-sense from the government, the five main species are commercially harvested annually in order to keep their numbers at an acceptable level.... and to reduce the damage that they cause.........
Authorities at local levels also tend to turn a blind eye to farmers/hunters, providing they don't go overboard with their culling.... :hgun:
