Hey guys,

I've been lurking around a bit. Thanks to all of you for the great info on San Jose. I'll definitely be keeping it in mind when I come in January. I was wondering if there is any sort of MP type places in Quepos that anyone is aware of? I'm travelling in mixed company and only have 2 days in SJ, so I was thinking it would be nice to find a place in Quepos. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mixed company so that means you need a quickie I gather. On the road to the airport 3 minutes outside of Quepos is a bar/hotel complex called Layla's where they have girls who live there and work in the bar and you can use the girls hotel room, pretty reasonable, not alot of selection--6-7 girls--but after dark. I was there last in April with the mgr of my condo complex, very nice place, has a website without the bar action mentioned: http://www.hotellaylaresort.com/ It's orderly at least last few years, used to be known as a clip joint, now straight up with normal drink prices and girl prices. Girls are dressed up nice but nothing very special last time. Who knows, it changes day to day, week to week. Anyway, if you see something you like you can get in and out pretty quick.

On the other road out of town about 5 minutes, the road to Rt 34 and Jaco, there is a bar on the west side of the street called Bar Roja, cheap, girls live there also, use the back rooms, not good selection, opens after 4pm or so, Tico joint. You can get in and out quick. Not recommended, kind of dumpy.

Some guys may remember Itzamana--been closed for along time now so forget that if you hear about it.

Best option: There are two gringo bars, and only two, where the p4p girls hang. They are next to each other across from Best Western downtown Quepos: Pescadora and Wacky Wanda's, and some girls just walking around back and forth in front and across the street to Best Western's shitty little casino. Pescadora is the better choice to do the panorama, but get up and stick your nose in to Wacky's, a few semi-pro's won't go into Pescadora. This time of year pretty good, 10-20 girls after 6-7pm or so, often a couple very nice ones. If you see something you like grab her because both joints get full of drunk gringo vacationing fisherman who will sit there and buy her drinks for 2 hours before he pulls the pin or cuts it loose. If you see that happening, wait until there's a lull and make a fast pitch--she'll ditch! And you can get done quick and back to your group because the girls will know cheap short time places a block away.

There's a newer gentlemen's club on the road to Manuel Antonio, but it never seems to be open and I haven't heard good things, so forget it.

That's about it for Quepos. Anyway, you'll really like the beach at Manuel Antonio, really something, and the restaurants and bars there and in Quepos, and lots of outdoor stuff to do if your group is into that. Just not a big mongering place like Jaco. Send me a PM and let me know if I can help, Quepos is the one town in CR I know very well.

That is my understanding but I saw a recent green season post that said they let a girl in no problem which surprised me. I am rarely there then, maybe they loosen it up due to lack of occupancy.

Your right, Arco's is the current hot late night club which changes every 6 months, but after hours, slim pickens the handful of times I've been there, and way too late for me. Also,a little pro action sometimes at Sergant Garcia's, ladies night Thursday, hit and miss, but mostly local non-pro's who probably won't go and a few pro's on occasion. But at either, most of the pro's you see you will also see at Wacky's and Pescadora, kind of like the gulch where they roam from KL to DR to another, like maybe SL. Almost all of the CR chica pro's in Quepos, I'd say 99%, aren't from Quepos and mostly Nica's, Dominicana's. Not to say you can't get a Quepoan semi or non, but it takes time and good contacts and some Spanish and the balls to go dicking around in their hoods/barrios which aren't as bad gringo wise as SJ's. It is a tourist town and almost all of them work in some aspect of tourismo so they're used to seeing us. Being a small town,they all know each other somehow even maybe only by name or sight, and they like nothing better then gossip about "Jessica is a puta." Oh how they love that word, ain't it?

That's where the local contacts come in but it takes time which most gringos don't have, probably not coming back anytime soon. They can hook you up with potentials either in Quepos or in the few hoods in Manuel Antonio or one of the outlying towns like Naranjito, some nice country babes there in the karaoke bar and Bar Tipico that will go on a formal date to another town like Parrita, not Quepos. (I wish I had a contact in Parrita, there are a zillion stunners for some reason)

Tough though to get a local non pro, or even a semi if she's truly local, to hang out with you in Quepos. Allways exceptions. But, some out of towners come in Thursday-Sunday and stay at one of the flea bags who don't care, and usually working at the bars mentioned. I drive to the beach and I stop in Orotina if it's Thursday or Fri and take one of my plan B reg's and drop her and her sister off downtown for work.Twice over the years I've taken girls from Pescadora that I've known from the DR, visiting family in Quepos.

New guys who like hanging at the beach, a CR gringo maxim applies: "Always have plan B" because your Plan A reg is going to have a problem 30% of the time and the puta selection can often be very slim at the beach towns (other then Jaco).

The bars I mentioned Pescadora, Wacky Wanda's and Layla's are the for sure p4p hangs with the best of what there is to offer in this limited by numbers pond and where you can score quick, and I think that is what the original poster needed.

A word of caution, these two bars are 100' from the seawall street which is to the west. After dark, last few years that corner area has become the crack head street hang. Alot of them. Don't go that way, they will approach in two's and three's and aggressively mooch to the point you will want to react and then who knows. I always have tear gas anywhere in CR, bring it in your checked in bag, legal. But always have it handy so you can have it in your hand at times like those. I buy Magnum because it comes with a pocket clip, nice fit into your shirt or pants pocket. Much better then nothing. Shane from Boston, mgr/bouncer, keeps them away from the bar, tuff frigging gringo, one of those guys who knows how to fight. He has the gas on his belt, always. And if you have your eye on a girl, run it passed him, he'll give you the dirt if there is any. Anyway, there is a cab stand across from the bus station a block and half to the east, always cabs there, even very, very late. Don't want to scare you about Quepos, it's really safe, but that corner is bad news at night.

I heard Wacky's is also for sale--they have a common wall and are probably one place on the books. Wanda is a wacky old big mouth chain smoking drunk gross gringa who is down every so often, has her local gringo's keep on eye on it. She had a great biz for a long, long time until Pescadora's got hip and updated and gringoized it with good bar food and all the sports channels. The current owner is from FL and also visits occasionally, kind of lets Shane and another guy run it. He has a good biz 6 months a year, that's the problem with beach town biz' in CR, it rains 6 months a year and tourism drops dramatically.

Both are only selling long term leaseholds from the Tico owner of both.

If you head over towards Manuel Antonio there is a gentlemans club on the left side of the street and down next to Hotel Karahe there is another night club that should have some action. I have not been to either one but the looks from the outside you should be able to find what you want.
