I just received a letter from the lawyer of a past, very irregular client requesting all of my treatment notes from 1/1/02 to the present. This client was extrememly sporadic and I have very few notes on her sessions because the first few were spread so far apart and she came to me for relaxation only. I usually make a few notes on the intake form the first session then after that I will make notes only if something changes or pops up. Or, of course, I'm working on a an insurance client.I haven't seen this client since August of last year and I have since moved my office and can't seem to find info on her. Either on those few sessions I didn't make notes or they somehow got lost in the move.In any rate, I have very little to send to this lawyer, if I send anything at all. I guess my question is, I can just tell them I have little to no records and leave it at that, can't I? I would have kept better records had I known she was planning on pursuing legal help (it's a disability claim).Just not sure what I should do. Any input would be appreciated.
