Question about going to a spa for a massage during pregnancy? Please help!?

My husband's and my 2 year anniversary is coming up in under a month. He has to work that night, eck, so we're thinking of going out to eat and going and getting a massage together since we're tight on time. Well, I'm currently 16 (almost 17) weeks pregnant, and at the time of our anniversary I'll be right at 20 weeks, so even though I can still lay on my belly right now, the thought of someone pushing on my back while I'm on my belly isn't very appealing to me... I'm just wondering if they have any tables for pregnant women with like a hole cut out that lets your belly hang down? I mean, if they don't then they should! It seems a pregnant woman will need a massage more than most anyone lol, and if they don't, if maybe they have special chairs for massages that doesn't put pressure on your belly? Thanks for your answers, I've never been to a spa before (yea poor deprived woman, I know lol)

I had a massage at 7 months and was on my belly for it, but she had built up a support system of pillows and I believe it was a special table, as well. We called ahead of time and told them I was pregnant, so they were prepared. Good luck and have fun!

If you are going to get a pregnancy massage at this stage, the therapist will do what is called side-lying. She or he will prop pillows under your legs and feet to keep your hips at the same level and have you lay on your side. It's very comfortable and the baby will be safe. Make sure the therapist knows what they are doing and not to do ANY Deep Tissue work, and be careful of your feet. Your feet have nerve endings that could send you into premature labor. Enjoy your massage and this also helps with easier delivery since it puts mom and baby at ease..
