With Suicide Prevention Awareness Month nearly at a close, a group of practitioners were doing their part in spreading awareness for the aspect of mental illness.
Access Bars Practitioners filled into the Swift Current Mall yesterday to give free massages to those interested.
They say their massage system based touching points on the head is useful in helping recipients process feelings which can lead to suicidal thoughts.
Christine Ciona, a registered Access Bars practitioner, explained what they were hoping to pass on with three massage tables they had set up at the Mall.
"We wanted to contribute to people experiencing more ease, and joy, and happiness in their life, no matter what's going on for them... One of the things we're committing to is helping people choose differently when it comes to feelings of anxiety, depression, suicide, overwhelm."
The massages are said to give those who receive them a sense of clarity to make choices without irrelevant factors clouding their judgement.
"I've been in places where I've been in places where I've been depressed, and in a funk, and not too bubbly," she said. "It's really nice to know in those moments, and in any moment, you actually have a choice."
Practitioners around the world offred the massages for free during the month, hoping to do their part when it comes to the month of suicide awareness.
