I am 5 weeks post-op from a microdisectomy at L3-L4, I am experiencing numbness from my right knee, up through my thigh and over my buttock. Also, in my upper inner thigh and in between my legs.
Since the op I have been left with bladder problems and am having to self-catheterise 2-3 times every day.
I have a lengthy history of back pain:-
1986- Laminectomy at L5-L6
1989- Chemonucleolysis at L5-L6 (Chemonucleolysis was an experimental treatment for herniated disks which did not prove succesfuland left mewith back spasms)
1997- Facet joint injection at L5-L6, again unsuccessful.
1998- Refused further surgery, managed episodic back pain which was compounded with nerve pain down my lower right leg into my footby regular attendance at osteopaths-cost a fortune!!
Presently, I am off work due to my recent op, basically I am asking what now?
Am I going to be left with long-term urinary problems? Will I ever regain sensation in my right leg? Will I ever wear high heels again?!
