Recommedations for a new stool

[ask me a question!!!]

After using the same stool for about Mmmm 13 yrs or so I've decided it was time to buy a new one.

I'm looking for one that is comfortable with a wider seat (big enough for my "wide load" haha) and that is QUIET! And I want the height to be adjustable. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to buy one?? Any brands that are better than others??

I got a great one thru Ebay from Massage King. It was 60 or 70 $ with shipping. It's quiet, adjustable, and sturdy. Very comfy, too. I used an Earthlite stool at one job I had and the cushion just wasn't as nice. That stool could have been worn out, I don't know. What I know is that the stool I got is GREAT and it was 1/2 the price of the brand names. You can order direct through Massage King for a little more money. I think the color choices are: Emerald, Purple, Navy, and Black. The purple is an eye-catcher but my room is purple so it works out for me! The navy and black are a lot more subtle according to the pictures.

keep in mind that the height adjustment on some are higher than on others. this happened to me. i figured they were all pretty much the same so when my supplier was making of list of things i needed and i said a stool, i made a mistake and now my stupid chair is about 34 inches higher than what i like it to be. i still haven't gotten used to sitting in it and it's been over a year! i hate it but i refuse to spend another $75 to get a new one. (you'd think if i hated it that much i'd just spend the money...sometimes being stubborn is a hassle! hahahahaha)

Yes, there is a massage supply store in Tampa (Sunset Park Massage) but the problem is that they close at 5pm. I work in St. Pete and usually don't get out of the clinic until around 4:30 so there's no way I can make it there before closing.

"Normally" I have Mondays and Wednesdays off of work and visit their store then but we have been shorthanded a receptionist so I've been covering that until they can get a new one hired.

If I can hold off for a few more weeks, I can visit the store and look at them in person. If not, I'll try one of the online suggestions. There's really no reason not to wait except that once I decide I want something.....well I want it!

Scrip sells an excellent rolling stool which will hold just about anyone. I know a male MT who is around 280 lbs. and has no problem with it at all.

You can't order it online from what I see, but it is pneumatic. Just make sure you get the one with the metal legs, and not the plastic ones. The metal legged one is the "heavy duty" one.

The wheels are still "plastic rolly-bobs", but they haven't broken in the two years he's used it.

Scrip has very competitive pricing. When i was in school we used exercise balls to sit on for reflexology, and doing face massage. They worked out well for me and they are about $11 or $12 at walmart you can get different sizes and blow it up to the size that is good for you. It is also great for your core, at first it was a little weird. Balancing and all but it helps you work your core muscles and before you know it you wont even notice you are tightening your core muscles and strenghthening them!

Plus if it doesn't work out for you, you can always use it for exercise, or show your clients ome things that might strenghthen their core, or use it to stretch those muscles!

We had chairs at the school too, but once i got used to the ball i don't think i could go back.
