The sexologist assures that the practice of has become very "chic" and the wave of lesbian experiences is growing as many women are outside of the family's control.

Rampolla explained that with the women leaving the home to attend university and work, they come into contact with other women, without having a defined sexual orientation.

Watching famous women kissing each other on television peaks their interest, although not necessarily to become lesbian or have sex with another woman.

According to Costa Rican sexologists, there is a growing trend for Ticas choosing to have sex with other women, from time to time or on a more frequent basis, without giving up their relationships with men.
