Recommended texts

Hi,

Im about to embark on ITEC Reflexology course, which I will top up later on to AoR. The recommended test for the cousre is Louise Tucker - I find that I never really used her book for Hoilstic Massage, as Our course tutor provided us with good notes and links.

My question is what is everyones favourite relexology book?
I thought about getting Stories that the feet can tell -Eunice Ingham for some background reading, are there any other recommendations.

We were recommended the Louise Tucker book but to be honest I didn't buy it. I bought two others books which I found completely invaluable. They are "Reflexology for Holistic Therapists" by Francesa Gould and "Hands on Reflexology - A Complete Guide" by Andrew James. Both cover everything you will need for your AoR course.

I'm hearing good thing about "The Reflexology Bible" by Louise Keet. Louise was my tutor and was excellent.

I am also starting the ITEC Reflexology course this year, my tutor from my Itec massage class said that I should stick to the Louise Tucker to get through the exams etc as the other books that are recommended on the Itec book list vary with there info so I have purchased the Louise Tucker, but only to get me through the course.

Hi Sara Louise,

I think it may be better to stick to the recommended text to begin.You may get confused if you look at too many texts when you are new to this. Louise Tucker is very good and I have a couple of her books. Having said this you may feel this book is not for you. Have a look at the book Sarah7 has mentioned. You never know, they may be just what you are looking for.

When you are established on your course you will develop your own way of working and then you will need to look at other books to widen your knowledge and complete assignments.

Hiya Sarahlouise,

I did the ITEC reflex and we had to get the Louise Tucker book and the Beryl Crane Practicioners manual which I now find great. Do take advice above and stick with what you need to get through the course and exams. Once you are qualified you can have a read of other books that will help you on your reflex journey.

I finished ITEC Reflexology in July and found Louise Tucker gave me the basics and I read around the topics using Vicky Pitman's "Reflexology, A Practical Approach". Dwight Byers book is also good, with an easy to read style and handy tips on hand positions, which helped with the practical

Louise Tucker will greatly help you with your exams, it is a very basic text, but ITEC do take a lot of the questions from this and your tutor may stick closely to this when instructing you.

I would advise the Reflexology Handbook by Laura Norman and the Reflexology the Definitive Practitioners Manual by Beryl Crane. Eunice Inghams books are lovely narratives and give you a feel for the therapy, but the Crane and Norman books will teach you the bare bones and how to become a great practitioner.

I like Dwight Byers, Kevin and Barbara Kunz and Ann Gillanders for basic/intro books to Reflexology. I hand this booklist out to inquiring clients and basic students that are looking for some comprehensive reading without getting very technical and wordy.
