Recording what you find!!!

Hello,

I really do hope someone will be able to help me.

Im currently doing VTCT Diplomia Reflexology. Our tutor is AoR qualified, and ive found her very nice, approachable and seems to have fab knowledge all round. However, she wasnt well last night at collegeand we had a stand it, who i also believe is AoR qualified.

My question really is recording what you find on the feet. Our tutor over previous weeks as we have been working on out foot charts. We have recorded the feet as the therapist is looking at them (our left and right and not the clients) The stand in tutor last night said no its the clients left and right.

So, the spleen for instance we have been told ison the right foot only. We have marked it on the right foot, but thats the clients left foot.

Now im really confused []What does every one else do ?

Any advice would be much appericated,

I'm a bit confused about what you mean but this is what I do. My foot charts show the plantar side of both feet side by side as if you're looking at the bottom of the clients feet lying on the couch ok. So in that case the spleen would be on the foot which is on your right of the chart as you look at it, but this will be the clients left foot and for another instance the liver would be on the foot onthe left side of the chart as you look at it but this is the clients right foot.

In other words you record exactly as if the chart is the feet you are looking at, as you are looking at them.

Does this make sense? Hope so!!

Hi Claire,

that must of been confusing! The feet reflect the body so they won't change. Liver on their right. Spleen on their left. etc Maybe she meant something else and wasn't coming across clearly. As susan says when we look at the plantar aspect of the feet our left is their right foot. Can take a bit of getting used to at first.

Thanks very much. That is excatly how we have been taught.

The stand in tutor i think has confused everybody! [:-]

Ive managed to clear it up in my own mind now.
