reflex on child with epilepsy

hi all

i have a friend whose daughter suffers with epilepsy, fits are regular on meds but triggered at moment by stress caused at school. i would love to be able to help her but unsure if i should treat as im newly qualified, mum is happy to let me treat her and would be with her at all times, i have requested written consent from consultant/ doctor before i even think about it.

Any advise would be greatful

I think a reflexology treatment would be wonderful for your friend's daughter. A short treatment will help to reduce her stress and her Mum will be there to be on hand.

In my experience children adore having their feet treated.
Keep it short, with lots of effleurage inbetween the key areas.

I thinks he would probably find it very beneficial. You won't get written consent from the consultant or GP! Just suggest they mention to the GP that she is having Reflexology for the record. I'm sure you'll find loads of posts on this forum about GP consent or lack of it.

The main consideration is to ensure her safety if she was to fit by lowering her to the floor and clearing obstacles from nearby to ensure she doesn't injure herself and her mum is going to be their all the time she knows how to handle things if she were to fit.

Reflexology is not going to cause her to fit anymore than she does at the moment and if the fits are triggered by stress then Reflexology is only going to help her situation surely.
