Hi there
Please, show your mum! A lot of people are sceptical about anything 'alternative' due to lack of knowledge and understanding. I am slowly managing to work alongside my cousin who has also been diagnosed with RA and who has also got a thyroid problem (god knows whats happened within my family ha ha!) and she is starting a course of reflexology with me again as a case study for my course. She was taking sulphasalazine and has now stopped and has started taking various supplements/vitamins and is addressing her diet as well. It is hard at first because your body becomes dependant on the medication and you feel really poorly but if you can just believe in yourself it gets you through!
I was at a point a 3 years back (I was 25) where I could barely walk upstairs, I couldnt hold a pen properly because it felt like I was permanently holding a block of wood in my hand that was stopping my hands closing, I couldnt do the things I wanted to do (I couldnt even go out on the drink as the medication I was on made me vomit blood when I drank) I was sick of my life!!
I was lucky, I work for a great company that supported me and my vast amount of hospital appointments and I have come into contact with fantastic people through the holistic courses I am studying who have helped me with information lotions and potions and if I can pass even the slightest bit of knowledge from my experience and help someone else then it makes the hard times I went through to get to where I am now worth while!
I have just been accepted into the Northern School of Homeopathic Medicine and am going to study to become a Homeopathic Practioner, this is the path I want to follow now. It is funny when you start studying holistic therapy, its almost as if you are drawn to it.....as if you are meant to do this for a reason. If that makes sense?
Take Care
