Reflexology and Parkinsons

Hi Everyone

A woman I met the other day asked me if reflexology was beneficial for somebody with Parkinsons disease, and if so, in what way does it help.
I told her that I am sure it would be very beneficial but could not off the top of my head (mainly cos I dont do reflexology often enough) to tell her in what way it would help.

Does anybody have any clients with parkinsons that could give me any advice?.

It can be hard being put on the spot! I think I'd state general benefits of reflexology for everyone eg boost circulation, relaxation and stress relief, immune system and nervous system stimulation (you might want to emphasise this bit), aid to digestive system, balancing all body systems as well as mind and emotions etc. Not everyone living with Parkisons will have the same things going on, and they could be living with other conditions and symptoms that will only become apparent when you come to do the initial consultation with them. Also it's hard to know how a person will respond to treatment so you might prefer to say 'Reflexology could help your father sleep better' for example, rather than saying it would help him to sleep better. Do you get my drift? If you have a little surf on the net you might well find some research on people with Parkinsons for your own interest. www.pacificreflexology.com has all sorts of interesting things.
