Reflexology Case Studies

Hi everyone

I've just registered so I'm new to all this and I was wanting to ask a quick question if anyone can help me? I'm currently doing (P/T) Reflexology ITEC Level 3 Diploma, as you know we have to do 10 clients and I wish to use my cousin who is 16 but will be 17 next month, I just wanted to know if it would be ok to do a treatment on her or do I need her parents consent? As it say's in our notes under the age of 16, but I just wanted to know do I still need to get consent from her parents even though she'll be 17 next month? This is the only thing I'm stuck on as I'm trying to complete my case studies and I can't ask my tutor as the college is closed for 2 wks for Easter and I need to have all in for 22nd April so I can get to do my pre-assessment.

Diff colleges and govening bodies have diff rules. Perhaps just get the parents consent and that way you are covered!

Yes totally agree with Hallos,get the consent and you are covered,will also look good with the case studies,we all need to be careful and follow the code of ethics,both for ourselves and our clients.

Thank you, any tips or help on where I can see a sample letter of parental consent, if such a thing exists? Just so I know how I should word my own, is there any references I need to quote? do I need to write a letter to the parent and a reply letter?

You have answerd your question above!
I would not ask a 16 year old for consent as she is already 16. A person can give consent for surgery from their 16th birthday so why would you need consent for reflexology?

Hi,

I've been a Level 3 Reflexology tutor for 14 years and can confirm the last answer to be correct. You DO NOT have to get parental consent if they have reached the age of 16.
