I agree with you, that they would not come back. Conventional medicine has moved away from eminence based medicine to evidence based medicine. It is simply not enough that some popular person says he can work wonders.
Attempts have been made to see if reflexology really could do something on its own - to check if evidence could be established.
One study ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11068346 ) found that:
1) Experienced reflexologists were unable to detect presence/absence of specific conditions - even when they have a list to choose from.
2) Experienced reflexologists were unable to agree among themselves if specified conditions were present or not.

Based on the evidence, it would be malpractice to refer patients with real diseases to reflexologists.
