Reflexology - pineal gland

Hope you don't mind me posting a new thread. I have looked down the list for other posts relating to my question but cannot find any....so here goes......

I am currently doing this VTCT Reflexology course and loving it, but my goodness how confusing, there are some things that contradict others. Some books state about the pineal gland it is on the medial side of the big toe and other state it is on the inner side of the big toe next to the other toe. My tutor says as do her notes we have taken home that the pineal gland is on the inner part of the big toe. HELP? Or does it not matter whether it is either side as it is a large area to cover?
Any thoughts on this would help?

I'm studying ITEC Reflexology at the moment and we are learning a routine based on Renee Tanner. She says that the Pineal gland is on the inner side of the big toe 'cos the hypothalamus reflex is on the outside. Don't know if that helps you at all!!!

My routine is based on Inge Dougand technigue and in that routinr the pineal gland is the spiral of the big toe. (the circle that lines of the toe come too.)It is generaly on themedial of the toe.)

The spiral is the site of the Pituitary according to Renee Tanner. Strange how they vary isn't it!

Looking at Inge's new book (Pg 188 - how sad is that!!!!)the pituitaryis placedat the whirl on big toe not the pineal ......where ever that whirl maybe on the client - this varies from person to person of course...perhaps you meant Pituitary???? The pineal is placed at the medial aspect just above the hypothalamus.

Different people have different ideas about where the hypo, pineal and pituitary are on the toe. I reckon though that if you do a thorough treatment you will cover them all anyway, if that is any consolation.

I agree with At One. I was taught that if you do a thorough treatment, you will cover all areas. Myself and other students used to get confused over where the eye/ear points were as they also vary - we were told that we shouldconcentrate onthe guidelines we were given by our tutor for the particular method, but to accept the variations. As you progress when you are qualified, you will begin towork your own way - at college, I feel, you are taught the basic routine, which is very good and thorough(certainly was at my college)
I have now learned different ways through adaptive techniques for palliative care (Icertainly could NOT access the pituitary/hypo ina cancer patient the way I was taught to do it at college!)and through my own intuition, to give a very thorough and effective treatment, though the basics remain the same.

Thanks for all your replies..........it certainly is confusing......I will do it the way I was taught at college I think.......I feel comfortable doing it that way.
