Response to mailouts?

I just mailed out letters, a menu and business cards to family and friends in the local area. 39 to be exact. In the letter I announced that I was ready and available to take clients, a brief overview of what I can do for them and please book with me and if you book before Oct. 31st I'll give you $10 off your first appt. I encouraged them to share my menu and cards with their friends and pass along the discount. I figure this is a pretty good deal for all concerned.

I realize that not all of the 39 are going to book with me at least right off the bat. But I'm just wondering if you've done this sort of promotion/mailout, what kind of response did you get and how soon after you mailed it out?

0 - 10%. So, at the most 4 clients. Maybe others in different areas got better results. ??

Mailout response rate

I think that is about right. If it is a cold contact, meaning they don't know you, 2%-3% is considered good. If you know them, up to about 10% depending on how good your response request is. What you say and offer them makes a big difference on the return.

I agree with previous posters. Don't expect too much of a response. I wouldn't just count on these letters to begin bringing you clients. You need to talk with them as well. If you run into them, ask them if they received your mailing. Have your appointment book with you and ready at all times. I would also recommend doing some other forms of marketing or else it will take you a long time to get established if you just count on these 39 people to get you going. Good luck.

What should I do in addition to the mailouts? BTW, these mailouts went to friends that know that I've been in school.

I'm planning on doing a spa party with some of my close girlfriends. I'm trying to get into some offices to do chair.

I'm not trying to see how busy I can get. 5-10 massages a week would be plenty. I've got a life and family to keep me busy the rest of the time.

I would have suggested you give them three G.C.s each good for 50% off the clients first visit. This way you get paid something & you get a better perceneforum.xxxe of people coming in the door. Maybe, if the current run doesn't bring in too many people, you can send out something like this around Christmas.

I have done the cold mailings to people I didn't know. I sent out about 100 letters to brides-to-be and moms-to-be. My response was about four out of the 100. While I was doing the letters ( I sent them out over a period of about four months.) I continually had problems with my printer, computer, ect. to the point that I gave up. I figured that the universe didn't want me to find clients that way. But if you do send out letters, don't think they won't find results for you over the long haul! All the letters I sent out was about nine to ten months ago. Just last week I received a call from one of the brides I had mailed to way back when, she was having problems in her glutes and her Dr. told her to get a massage. She had saved that letter all this time! She says she is interested in becoming a regular, and wants to bring her husband in, give away my card to some one she knows, ect! It only takes one person to find you, and word of mouth takes it from there.

Moral of the story: Never discount what you do today, it may reap you rich rewards in the future!

Same story here, did a mailing about a month ago, 150 of them and I got 5 clients from them! yes I was also kinda bummed, but that is not so bad considering I did the mailing on my computer and printed them myself so for all that I spent I got back a good profit!! Mailings are a good thing, but I have recently learned that they work much better for my CURRENT clients to remind them to get GC for the holidays and just to get my name back in their head and that works SO much better! Also, if you want, do them again in a month and really push the holidays for GC, the more they see your name the more they wil think of you!! You might offer a good deal on GC before like Dec. 24!! ?? Hope it works out! Oh, and one more thing, I once saw that it also takes up to 6 months to see a reply to mailings, so keep your chin up!
