Ripped Off At Bp

I'm still upset about an incident I had last night at BP. You walk in and they tell you about how convenient it is because they're set up to accept credit and debit cards. What they don't tell you until after is that there's a BIG ASS SERVICE CHARGE!!!! I had a massage with Mellisa who was wonderful, petite w/beautiful breasts and supprisingly didn't complain about her arm because I took so long to release. Anyway, when I get out the owner (whom I had told that I wanted to use my card) was quoting me $25 extra in service charges. WHAT THE F%&$!!! As much as I enjoyed my time with Mellisa, I will not set foot in that place again. I was compensated $10 by the owner but still feel "duped". At least at IT you can swipe without having your money swiped.

This place (BP) really bothers me. What's the point of spending all that $$$ in making the Taj Mahal of all MP's and than scaring away customers with stunts like this?

Does this guy (the owner) not understand the law of diminishing returns? There is only so much (and I believe very little in fact) incremental growth in revenue an MP onwer will expereince with these added frills Sal is investing in. I think Sal is confused, this isn't the hotel game; you can't increase rates and start charging ridiculous service fees just because your towels are fluffy!!?! While I might not aruge with the manager of the Waldorf about the $75 charge for the 5 min. call to Toronoto, I wouldn't hesitate to argue/get upset with a moron in a RUB & TUG who would pull that credit card service charge BS!. And, that's the point here Sal -> it's a RUB & TUG your renovating, it's a RUB & TUG your retrofitting, it's a RUB & TUG your operating - not the Elmwood Spa!

Maybe I'm wrong, but does anyone, on any given day decide to see Alana over any other MPA because of any amenity which is being provided at BP. Seriously, I'd like to know. As you're driving to BP to see whomever, is your mind/body craving that choclote you know will be on the pillow?

Most Merchant Credit Card Agreements specify that the merchant cannot charge a higher price for a good or service that is charged to the credit card, rather than paid by other means. Some SCs circumvent this by giving cash advances and charging for the cash advance service. However, they cannot add a charge for use of a credit card if accepting payment for drinks, etc.

You could ask the MP for a receipt for the charge and ask him to waive the charge or you will report his practices to his credit card processor. Obviously, MP owners may be more likely to charge this prohibited fee, since a customer is less likely to complain to his credit card issuer.

There was a thread about this some time back - as I recall, it was deleted. Obviously the practices at BP haven't changed.

Despite the fact that credit card agreements prohibit the practice, lots of places, such as computer discounters, charge extra if you use a credit card, but most of them only bump the price by the 2 or 3 per cent that they get charged by the credit card companies. that's a little different than this kind of "surcharge". Really, there's no excuse for not disclosing this info at the front so you know about it before you go in. That way, at least it's your choice.

It's really simple. All BP has to do is post a sign beside the card swiper saying......"There will be a xx% surchare for interact & credit cards. Why doesn't Sal do this to avoid confusion?

Matter of fact why is he charging so much!

well I go to BP frequently and usually when I pay with plastic the girls tells me always that there is the service charge or if the service charge is the problem for some bring cash because BP is still one of the best places around especially Alana and Victoria

These places do not seem to operate as real businesses, and when we get ripped off, there is no real recourse available to us. Today I was totally ripped off at Just Health Spa, 155 East Beaver Creek Unit 26. Only two girls working there, no manager, no contact information, no hope. There should be some way for us as customers to deal with disputes, somehow.

I have felt ripped off once or twice, however there has been someone with a vested interest in the business available, and there was a settlement, of sorts.

But in my case today there was no management, just girls that basically had my money and really cared about little else.

What can we do??

I was the guy who started the old BP thread on exactly the same topic. That thread was last August! I asked for exactly the same remedy: that BP either stop charging the "service charge" or put up a big sign to warn customers ahead of time that they'll be charged extra. Sal ignored the thread then. He will ignore it now. That's life at BP, I guess.
