"Rub & Tug" - The Movie!

Hello... I am long-time massageplanet.net lurker. I've pretty much retired from the hobby due to finances - though I do manage to find time and money to occasionally visit Shirley at Chang's. She is absolutely fantastic!

I came across a very interesting film which will be showing in a few weeks at the Toronto International Film Festival. It's called "Rub & Tug" and is a fictionalized story with a plot and setting in GTA MP.

Appearantly, the writer/director got the idea for the story because she knows an MP owner and she claims to have done research at actual MP's for about a year.

It was really funny when we were choosing our movies for the Festival last night that she too really wanted to see "Rub & Tug"... maybe she was an MPA before we met.

I think it would be interesting if anyone on massageplanet.net knew which MP's, MPA's or MP owners participated in the writer/director's "research" for this film.

I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, but I know a lot of people who live in Toronto who don't go to or know how the film festival works. So just in case anyone is interested in seeing this film, and are not an experienced festival goer...

People who ordered advanced ticket coupons are have selected/are selecting their movies now. They will get first crack at tickets. A lot of film sell out just from the these pre orders.

Once all those orders are processed, the non-coupon buyers can buy individual tickets for any show starting on September 4th. If all the tickets aren't sold out by the day the film screens, then you can actually buy tickets at the box office at the show time. It's rare that tickets are available this way.

Another option is to stand on the rush line. About fifteen minutes before a sold out show begins, they start filling empty seats with people who stand in line, sometimes for hours.

Saturday, September 14 01:00 PM UPTOWN 3

If you want to go, and didn't get a pre order in, I suggest you try on the sept 4th.

The film doesn't look like it's supposed to be an expose or anything. Just fiction (if factually researched).

If you want tickets you have to until single tickets go on sale. See www.bell.ca/filmfest for more info and select Toronto International Film Festival, its the top selection.

Thanks Tourist and Niko for providing information on how to get tickets if you can't order in advance.

This is the first time I'm going to the Festival and I get a sense that getting tickets, either in advance or "the-day-of" is a very complex/aggrivating process. Therefore I did not want to post information on ticket availability in case I got it wrong.

Anyhow, I've got 30 advance movie passes, and I did choose Rub & Tug as one of those films. However, if I understand correctly, even with advance ordering I'm not guaranteed tickets to see the film. There's a lottery that takes place, and I have to provide both first and second choices for films that I want to see.

If I do get to see it, I'll try and post a "review".

Last thing I'll say on the subject...I don't know how bad anyone wants to see this, but I've had very good luck with the Rush line when I have been unable to get tickets. You would be best lining up at least an hour before the show begins, but the conversation is always good, and lots of people don't show up for their screening. Often too, someone who has tickets but can't go for some reason will show up at the rush line to sell them at face value.

On the lottery for those who had advanced tickets, from my experiene, i get about 80% of my choices when i get my order in for the drawing.

I don't know if you guys saw today's NOW Magazine, but Rub&Tug got a big splash. That'll probably screw you for rush seats.

Myself, I'm doing the festival with my SO, so I'm going to pass on the film for now. I'd be afraid of appearing to enjoy myself just a little too much. I already get enough terror when we're out for a walk and we pass my favourite MP...yikes!

The same issue of NOW also gave R&T a two-star review. It states that the rubbing is minimal and the tugging, non-existent. The scene from Decline of the American Empire was super-sexy, by contrast. So you probably shouldn't go to the movie expecting titilation. You should probably save your money to upgrade your next massage.

Like the lack of rubbing and tugging in the movie I think the alleged research was probably non-existent based on the BS that the director/writer chick babbles on about in the NOW article. It sounds like she has no fuckin' idea what happens in the average rub & tug or why guys like to go.

Check out the trailer, it looks kind of funny. I don't think this is going to be as good as porn for heat, but it does look like a fun story.

You can access newsgroups via a browser through deja.com (which now resolves to the "Groups" section of Google). Not sure if you can download though.
