On Wednesday July 22, two businesses in the Drumheller valley celebrated their grand opening at one location in Downtown Drumheller.
Dinosaur Valley Massage & Wellness which is located in the former C C's Closet location on 3 Avenue West celebrated an addition to their location with The Sage Shoppe Refillery joining them. Dinosaur Valley Massage has been open since October 2019 and thought that this partnership would compliment their business well. The Sage Shoppe Refillery has been open since March of this year at the Sage Shoppe which is located on the Wayne Road. According to Shelley Rymal, owner of Sage Valley Marketing and the Sage Shoppe, it made sense to bring this part of their business downtown, especially due to COVID-19. "We decided to open a refillery in the beginning of the year and by the time we were ready for our grand opening, March 17, that was the same day, more or less, everything shut down. Then we had to adhere to social distancing and we do not have the space to do that out at Sage Valley, so we were happy to partner with Dinosaur Valley Massage & Wellness and bring our products into town for more accessibility."
Benny Veer with Dinosaur Valley Massage notes that it matches their business and beliefs. "It's a very environmentally friendly thing to do, there is no doubt about that. The zero waste factor, people not having all sotrs of packaging, so we were in no matter what." With the location being right downtown, it is a very central location for people to be able to refil their soaps, detergents, and cleaners.
Rymal explains how people can use the refillery. "People can bring in their clean jars, or existing containers they use for shampoos, conditioners, laundry soaps, hand soaps, and we will weigh them off, fill them, and charge by the quantity they purchase." It is a bit of diversification of their current Sage Shoppe business but goes hand in hand. "We didn't open our retail shop this summer for tourism. We were just thinking this would be a perfect opportunity where both very like minded people that this works very well for."
Veer is pleased with the partnership and is something that they had dreamed of having but were not expecting it. "We didn't expect it. It definitely came out of nowhere but we were very happy about it. It fits in well with our business model, our idea of what we wanted for the future of the store. It was sort of a 'side hippie dream' back in the day and when these guys presented us with the opportunity, we would have been very silly to say no."
To take advantage of the refillery, Dinosaur Valley Massage & Wellness are open Tuesday though Sunday until 6 pm most days at 65A 3 Ave W, downtown.
