That person obviously hasn't gone to a good massage therapist. I used to let my sister practice on me when she was in school. She was good, but she is so much better now. She graduated about 9 years ago. I am sorry, but practice makes perfect. If they only go to schools so they can get it cheaper, than they will never feel what a real massage is like, done by someone who has had much practice in the art of massage. I hate to see what their hair and nails look like. I have seen students in action when they come to the grade schools to cut hair. It is scary. I would rather pay extra and get a great massage or nails, ect. than be cheap and get a crappy job.

Hi all,it's the same over here in the UK. Students train then are let loose on the public for practice and assessments. Joe Bloggs (sorry, John Doe) comes in 'cos it's cheap not because they have any altruistic values and want to help the MT in training.You and I might be willing to go for student therapies, helping the student rather than getting a cheap treatment. Because as qualified therapists and having some experience of the craft, we are then able to give more accurate feedback for the post-treatment assessment. Whilst I was training it would have helped me enormously to have practiced on someone who knew what I was supposed to be doing! Your average member of the public really hasn't a clue.However, for a good quality massage, I always, always use an experienced working MT. You pays your money you takes your choice.Be well
