SPRINGFIELD, Ill (WICS) — Sangamon County is working on a massage parlor ordinance.

It's a move following in the steps of Springfield and Chatham....meant to better regulate massage establishments.

County administrator Brian McFadden told NewsChannel 20 Tuesday the county has a massage parlor ordinance in the works.

McFadden said the county had to ask the state if they could regulate massage establishments first.

"So we think that really the best thing is for everybody to be on the same ordinance, same page. We've got rules. Follow the rules. If you're following the rules, everything's fine,” McFadden said.

McFadden said he's been working closely with Sangamon County Sheriff's Office and the Springfield Police Department to address resident concerns about safety.

McFadden said the ordinance follows the same outlines as the Springfield and Chatham ordinances...but the ordinance likely won't be voted on until April.
