Hi,
Had long history of back pain even though I'm still fairly young (32), which really intensified after my emergency hysterectomy, 18 months ago. Fast forward to a few months ago and I had unbelieveable back pain, lost feeling in both feet, and had tingling, pins and needles, and shooting pains. Past few weeks have had servere neck pain with weakened shoulder movement ie struggle to fill kettle with water.
Saw GP for 3.5 yrs - told me everyone gets back pain, put up with it, so ended up seeing a locum. He was superb - got me an appointent with pain specialist and then got me an MRI scan organised 0 this showed that I have prolapsed disc L5/S1, with some other discs showingf start of probs.
Tried all kinds of therapies, physio, exercise, medications and Im now on morphine, and even that doesnt make me that pain free but it does help me walk.
Saying this I have started to experience pain in my bones, particlarly my shin bones and ankles, which swell up and give way when I weight bare on them.
I'm on the waiting list for surgery, but they want another MRI scan on my neck to see what else is going on. Had tests to see if I had MS so waiting for those results - am just feeling really down.
Husband is being very supportive but he has Charcot Marie Tooth so he has his own health issues to deal with, and I was his carer!
Sorry for the long post, I'm just feeling so alone, with my mum saying take another paracetamol for the pain (she doesn't understand that there is an issue with my spine)
Take care
D
