I've had this pain in my lower back, which sometimes runs down my hip and even down my leg, causing an overall general sense of pain. It seems to be more on my left side on my right. Though I have played sports a lot in the past, I don't remember a specific injury. I go to a place that does chiropractic work and 1/2 hour massages. The therapist does a decent job with the outside of my hips and getting my leg loose, but on my back she goes down to about my belt and that's it, leaving a large portion of my mid lower back untouched. If I did have a sciatic nerve problem, would all the work on my outside hips and legs not help the problem that much? Does a sciatic nerve problem exist in the base of your spine? I'm not even saying go down to my butt but she doesn't really get my lower back much. Also, I had a different therapist there once and she had me not lay down flat on my stomach but moved the table so my back was bent at an angle, which relaxed my lower back more. Almost like being at an 130 degree angle rather than an 180 degree angle. Lying flat on my stomach often causes my lower back to kind of cave in, causing tenseness and more pain. Anyhow, do you think I have a sciatic nerve problem...the pain seems to start at the base of my spine and darts here and there down my legs, mostly my left one.
