screws loose on massage table

for those of you that are 'handy'-er than i am (i'm surprised i can take out the trash...), i am wondering if there's an easy way to fix a problem on my massasge table. it's 8 years old, and other than what i'm about to say, it's still in near mint condition..

anyway.. i'm noticing that everytime i go to check the knobs, they're REALLY loose. i don't move my table around often, maybe 3-4 times per week.

has anyone had this happen before? i'm curious should i change the knobs or the screws or what?

You should be able to tighten them livingwell. I know I was given a lecture by my chapter president when I had allowed someone to use my table in a class he attended and they mentioned to me afterwards that the screws were loose. Supposedly it's part of regular table maintenance to check these screws often. Oddly enough my MT school didn't really cover table maintenance... and I recall calling earthlite while still in MT school to ask what to clean it with!
Actually one of my bolts had to be replaced. I couldn't find the exact same thing, so I believe the hardware store said what we replaced it with was called a "Carriage Bolt"... if that helps any. *shrug*
Honestly, you'd think as expensive as these tables can be... that they'd include an "owner's manual" or DVD on how to care for and protect your table!

My Stronglite table hasn't given me much of a fit at all and it's about 12 yrs old now. Having said that, I will say that I try to remember to check the knobs on the legs once a month or so... sometimes the jostling the table gets when some of my heavier clients plop onto the table, in turning, etc give a bit of a jiggle to the table, and as a consequence the knobs loosen a tiny bit - nothing dangerous, but a tiny bit. Just a check once in a while seems to take care of the situation.

thanks for your tips. i do check them and tighten them, i guess it's just caught me by surprise lately that when i check them they are SO loose. maybe i should just try to replace the bolt and see if that helps.

Screw loose

If you can't replace the screws and bolts, try Loctite. It's a gel-like substance that locks down threads. It's sold in different strengths and will stop the problem. You can find it in auto and motorcycle stores. The only drawback is that it's a little messy. Good luck,
