seasonal: tick alert!
Lyme disease is a concern in this area. Our neighbor has had it. It's one of those things that we have become used to looking out for and its why finding one on a client didn't freak me out. Every night I check my kids for ticks. last year my husband had tick bites frequently. No one in our family has had Lyme disease luckily. If anyone has an unexplained fever though, that would be one thing to check.
With the client, I just informed him and avoided the area around it. I believe its not in my scope of practice to remove it. We were at the end of the session so he could go home a remove it. apparently, the tick should be embedded from 36-48 hours before there would be worry about transmitting Lyme. but I also know there is quite a bit of controversy around the disease. I wonder, though, if I should call him to be sure he remembered?
