Secret of Karaoke bars

I would like to get an understanding, what Karaoke bars mean to Thais, not to farang. This part of modern culture is so mysterious.

What are the young girls after, who sit outside, waiting for what?
Listening to these awfully wrong tunes all sang in slow , never changing rhythm ought to be painful to Thai ears too.
Just for some garlands? Is it our way of discos? But at least you can shake your emotions out.
No such fun in Karaoke bars, no emotions, at least none that I could detect.

thousands and thousands of Karaoke bars, it must be big business, not much else entertainment.
I wonder where Garmin -GPS gets the info from, even in the remotest areas.
Perhaps special Karaoke radiation is reaching the satellites??

The rise of these dreadful places is of course down to cost. Its much cheaper for a bar to hire a karoake singer than a band of pro musicians.

Thai kareoke places range from a downstairs of a shophouse to a barn type structure with a seforum.xxxe and a couple of speakers..

Contrast that with a full club. airco, lighting, soundsystem, dj equiment, getting DJ's.. Totally different cost levels.

Anyway many (most ??) kareokes are knocking shops.. Garland buying gets the girls attention and she then comes and sits next to you, massages your legs, chats (negotiates).. Its also an asian way of buying face as you spend on the garlands and then have the young pretty singer sit on your shoulder while you can get drunk with your mates.

cheap food and buy your booze by the bottle, bought there or a takeaway from the local shop.
