Sensitivity around ankle

Hi everyone....

I am new to the forum, but have been reading alot of the mails and they have been a great help. I am studying for my reflexology diploma and am in the middle of my case studies.

Have a weird one though! For 4 treatments now one of my clients experiences major sensitivity around the ankle bone on the lateral side of the foot which corresponds (I believe!) to the hip/sciatic area. The thing is my client has not been experiencing any pain in this part of his body at all? Is there anything else it could be that I am missing?

Be really grateful for any suggestions.....

Hi Pamelli,

I would firstly say that it really depends exactly where the sensitivity is on the foot. You say it is the lateral side, around the ankle bone, well it could also correspond to the 'Testes' area, which is a small area almost immediately under the ankle bone in a little 'dip'.

The area for hip/sciatic, also covers joints in general, and although he may not have a 'problems' in this area, they may be linked to joints in general, which although can sound rather vague. may answer alot. Check his posture, and the way he holds himself. It may also be an old injury he may not remember. Can it not be related to any other areas that are coming up on the body? Remember, just because an organ or area shows sensitivity, doesn't always mean it is that specific organ/area that is under stress. You need to take the whole person into account! It could also be a part of his foot that is always tender, from shoes he wears, so you need to ask lots of questions, and ascertain exactly what he feels and where!!

Thanks Tj for your response it is always good to find out other people's thoughts.

As you would be looking at the feet when treating them the pain seems to be just over the top of the ankle bone.

His shoulder area would have alot of crystals which he puts down to bad posture when he is sitting at his workplace. He did have problems with his knee a while back so maybe that is also related.
