Those who have read my recent posts have noted my penchant to review in racing terms to avoid the "dreaded" editing by the moderators..So here goes!!
Had the opportunity to "drive" Shauna in today's first race at Invisible Touch Downs. This was the second time I had the priviledge to "sit" behind her and she was better than ever. I knew her little quirks so I was better prepared.
I drew the rail with Shauna this time out, so I knew I would have to "leave" all she could go, as there was a lotta early speed in there with us. Paige, Alexis, Vanessa.....serious talent!!!
After the post parade(shower), the starter called the fillies, and I turned her in behind the gate. As the gate picked up speed, I chanced a glance over and saw Paige with steam coming out of her ears and fire out of her nostrils!!! I laid the whip over Shauna's tail just as the wings folded, she layed her ears back and we roared out of there like a runaway train. Paige just couldn't keep up and tucked into the 2 hole. Two lengths back was the rest of the field. As we rounded the first turn, I tried to take back and give Shauna a breather, but she was having none of it. This filly really knows how to "race"!! I was just a passenger as she "took" me down to the 3/4 "pole" Or, was that "went down" on my 3/4 pole? I lost track of how many times she flipped me over, front, back, her on top, me on top....
At the "head" of the stretch, I tucked my "whip" between her 36C's and spoke to her. But in "Russian"!!
You can guess the rest. Around IT I'm now known as "Shauna's Sharpshooter"!!
****Note to the starter(Paul) - you'll have to clean the ceiling in the first room on the left!!
****Note to the announcer(Goober) - since when does a race call consist of...."oh baby....I like that...that feels so good...I love your taste...harder....faster....tighter...???
