Just returned from 8 days in Shenzhen. Flew to Hong Kong, and took the boat directly from the HK airport to Shezhen Shekou, 230 HK$. Insisted upon a taxi meter fare to my hotel, which was 60 RMB, despite the fact that the drivers all tried to quote me a ridiculous price of 450 RMB
My hotel was in the Futian district, GDH Inn, for about $25 a night, very nice, clean, newly remodeled hotel .
Hotel is just a few blocks from the subway which I used for most of my transportation. Subway price is about 50 cents.
My first day in Shenzhen I took the subway to the Luohu stop, and walked out gate C to in front of the Shangrila hotel.
I strongly recommend going during the day as the pimps at night are much more aggressive. I only went once at night, and I do not see why anyone would stay at the Shangrila hotel, it seems very safe outside, but the extraordinarily aggressive pimps, mamsans, and beggars are just ridiculous. I live in the Philippines, and the Chinese are much more aggressive than the Filipinos.
If you walk past the hotel, you will be stopped by dozens of pimps asking if you want a girl for massage, keep walking past McDonalds,
and when you get to the carpark, you will be right in the middle of the activity. Pimps or mamsans always asked for 200RMB, but I always stuck to the correct 100 RMB price, despite all their bullshit pestering to try to get me to pay more. The mamasans would take me to the apartment buildings nearby, and upstairs to the apartments. where I was shown several girls aged 20 to about 25.
If you do not like what you see they can always call on the phone for more. I always felt very safe, but was frequently annoyed by
the constant pressure to pay more. I am a white American, and I speak absolutely no Chinese. 99% of the Chinese people that
I encountered on this trip did not speak enough English to have even a basic conversation, so hand gestures and prices displayed on cell phone were used for communication. I just love the milky white Chinese skin, and never had a problem finding a girl that I thought was attractive. All of the girls would stand on the bed as they took off their clothes, and then lay down and invite me to lie with them.
All of them started with gentle caressing, and oral sex was not a problem. All of the women were gentle lovers with very soft, slim bodies. Never experienced the porno style sex more common in Thailand, and I actually prefer the more gentle type of sex, so I was always pleased with the service, and only tipped the best one 20RMB, the others did not seem to expect a tip.
For other , nonsexual activities you can take the subway all the way to the other end of the line for the "Wonders of the World" park, and also
several other parks in the same area, exit at gate A. There is a very nice, western style mall at the subway stop with a name that I cannot remember, but it starts with a "Da", and you would go to gate exit C3, and you walk straight into a mall with many western restaurants. Most of the restaurants have picture menus, so I had to point at what I would like to eat.
I enjoyed Shenzhen very much, the people were almost always polite, there are many beautiful women in the city, and the quality of the cities infrastructure, the food, and the hotels were all very good. I always felt very safe despite what some Chinese have posted about Shenzhen being unsafe for white foreigners. The biggest negative about the city is that no one speaks English, and you do feel like an idiot having to point and use hand signals for everything you need. The other negative is that air pollution is pretty bad.
Also, make sure you have your china visa before you go, I got mine here at the China consulate in the Philippines for one entry good for 30 days, for about $50
