As a foreigner, you are not familiar with the local situation, you do need to be cautious. I guess the OP was curious and more than a little nervous. He'd done some research on the board here and wanted some more info.

I can't blame him. I felt the same before my first visit to a Chinese BBS. It's not like going to other places in Asia where the shops are all but set up for foreign tourists. Heading into a dingy shop, not knowing what to expect; with limited mongering experience and even less knowledge of Mandarin can be very daunting.
