I apologies for posting on M&D but I feel that this is a matured crowd and and can make a better input. So pls, my apologies, in advance.
I work at a big fed government research institute, where there are many departments. I am currently single and there is a young man that I see every so often, while at work. We don't work together, he works in Urology. I work in the ICU. I saw him again a week ago and I asked a few co-workers who he was. I found out he was single and currently finishing up on his medical fellowship... I looked him up in my job's staff directly and got his full name, work email address/phone number and department info.
Again, I only see him about once every random 3-5 months. I've always had a strict policy that I don't date people that I work with or that go to the same gym as me, since these are two very important places to me and I don't want to feel awkward going there, if things don't work out. I do like him (he seem respectful, quite and humble) and would like to introduce myself to him. Would it me crazy to send him a brief email saying hi (since I might not see him again for the next few months... and who knows when he will be done and leaving)... or will that be a good way to do it? What are your opinions and what do you suggest? Would that be a bit much?
Thanks a lot, in advance.
