It's a very ancient and relatively humane form of punishment. It's also very cheap!

Although it could be used for any type of offender I see its main use in sentencing non-British nationals and British nationals not born in this country.

The minimum sentence would be a year and the minimum period would be at least five times the length of the equivalent jail term.
 
The Afghan government owes us a few favours. There's freely available drugs for the prisoners and if things get out of hand the prison authorities could call in an air strike!
 
Which country would take a criminal? And if one would then there'd be a new super terrorist country and the world would end....or some other such thing would occur..!
 
How could you introduce an "Exile" for foreign criminals, when at present we cant even deport them, even after recommendations from a Judge?
Remember the Human Rights Act and the convention our bright ex Prime Minister signed this country up to. We have a legal system who are making a fortune of defending these low lives because we are denying them their Human Rights.
At the moment of time, it would appear that all other country's are "exiling" their problems to this country. What a joke.
