Should you give your dog massages?

I have a yorkie, and I heard that small dogs can get sore very easily, especially of they're active. Supposedly, your supposed to give your dog massages about 2 times per week, along the spine, and joints... Is that true?

I'm not sure if it is true, but I give my small dog massages every so often, and she loves it! I think that it makes them feel good and relaxed after, and I'm sure that it helps them too. Also, the groomers give her massages too, so I think that you are supposed to give them massages. Hope this helps!

If it is true, then you should do it gently. We don't wanna hurt the dog's spine. If not, then let the dog rest on it's own.

Well..theres no "should" about it...but I`m sure your dog would enjoy a massage any time you want to give it one.

I dont think its a neccessity. But yes, dogs get sore if they exercise too much, just like people. If you think your dog is sore you can give them a massage. Just not too rough. Ya know, in this matter think of it as a little human. If they have sore muscles after running it would probably be appreciated if you gave them a massage but a rough massage would juuuust make it worse.

I do just because my dog loves it, but I'm not so sure that it's necessary. I think of it as a little treat for my dog, and it's a great way to bond

Also, before we go on walks, I have her "take a bow" because it always helps if your dog can stretch before and after a walk. This can help reduce the chance of sore muscles and arthritis later in life, even though it's only by a little bit.

Dog loves it when you pet him, rub his belly, and scratch behind his ears. But dogs, like humans, also love it when you give them massages. .
