Oh dear, a little bit of politics.

Did anybody do anything wrong in this scenario?

Me and a friend was having a few beers at one bar in Soi Eric. Nice and easy. After a while i noticed a real cutie at the bar next door. I checked bin and went over to talk to her. After a few hours i barfined her and off we went. On our way past the first bar we both got the "look" like this was really not ok.

What rules apply when bars are that close together?

Heck, maybe i got it all wrong in that beer fuelled imagination of mine:cheers:

You did nothing wrong at all. You mention that after the check bin you went to talk to this other girl, then bf'ed her a ''few hours'' later.
This is what explains the dirty looks, they wanted your money behind their bar and not the bar next door.
Of course they have no rights to your money but if they are hard up for punters then they won't like to lose their customers, it's just economics.

Ps..A little solution to this problem.
You can of course stay in the 1st bar, go speak to the girl you like and ask if she would like to join you at the next bar for a drink, you pay her bar and that's that sorted.
Unless the owner of bar 2 is hard up for punters too..55555 good luck

Funnily enough, my wife and I got this same "look" from a massage place, one of the legit ones, on our last visit. Same circumstances, sort of. Had an ok massage at the first place, the next day had a better one at the next place. Didn't go back to the first place for the rest of our stay. But after the "look" (that my wife didn't notice) I made it a habit to steer us around the block of stores away from the first place.

You did indeed do something terribly wrong. You spent precious moments of your short life worrying about what a bunch of bargirls were thinking of you.

Meanwhile, they were thinking this: "Damn. There goes a bunch of lady drinks and maybe 2,000 baht for a short night's work."

It's nice that you were concerned for their feelings, but there's very little chance they had any. They weren't in love with you and you didn't break any hearts. They just wanted your money and had the bad form to crap on your parade when you didn't give it to them.

You are the customer (say it with me, people, 'c-u-s-t-o-m-e-r'). You spend your money and do what you like. As long as nobody gets hurt or pokes an eye out, the staff (s-t-a-f-f) should cheerfully accept it as they are paid to do.

What is with the service sector in the bar areas anyway? Do frowning, pouting bargirls bring in the customers? Does anyone actually respond positively to arm-twisting greeters? Food for another thread....
