Located in the heart of Grafton sits a high-end and luxurious spa, and for the past six years Spa B has been bringing in business from all over Ohio.
“I’ve always had a passion for skincare,” said co-owner and professional esthetician Shannon Docs.
According to Docs, Spa B, at 919 Main St., creates a relaxing and luxury environment for customers to rejuvenate and treat themselves, and is run by a mother and daughter duo.
Lynn Morgan, Docs' mother, is on the business end while Docs provides skincare services. With treatments such as facials, massage therapy and body toning, Docs said most people enjoy spas because they like the delicate touching and feeling of being taken care of.
Docs said the specialized facial techniques, Gua Sha, tools, and various forms of massages, ensure there is something for everyone.
“People are wanting and craving that kind of relaxation, especially during a time like this,” she said.
Docs was raised in Grafton and knew she wanted to open up her business in the town she loves so much.
“We’re in a small little town and we give the utmost customer service and care," she said. "We treat our customers like gold. I think there’s something about Grafton businesses that give above and beyond care.”
Part of the unique way Spa B cares for its customers is the individualized work with massage therapist Rochelle Molnar.
“She does bamboo massages, deep tissue massages and offers customized massages for what the customers need,” Docs said. "She’s really popular and makes the customers feel relaxed and rejuvenated.”
As the spa’s esthetician, Docs is in charge of all things skin related. In her recent work, Docs said she’s become passionate about educating the public on skincare.
“On social media there’s been a lot of bad advice from people," she said. There have been influences sharing inaccurate information and it’s dangerous."
With the spreading of misinformation, Docs said there’s an increased chance of people damaging their skin, developing allergic reactions and more.
However, Docs said she is able to combat the bad advice and misinformation by educating the public and also conducting treatments at Spa B.
“Most of the time people realize that we do consultation and ask about your routine and allergies and other aspects of your life," she said. "Skin can be affected by so much including internal triggers. We work a lot to make sure we can help you.”
Docs stresses that skincare is more important than most people think it is.
“It can change your whole day," she said. "It can make you feel completely different. If you’re feeling your best, it can change your day and how you feel about yourself and your outlook on the day.”
Docs said she knows what it’s like to suffer from unruly and acne-prone skin.
“When I was a teenager I had really bad acne. It made me feel awful,” she said. "I knew I wanted to do something to help people feel better about themselves.”
Although Docs' treatments aren’t just for those with acne-prone skin, she said she knows her career is something worthwhile.
“I truly love what I do. Spa B is my absolute passion,” she said.
