I wasn't sure quite how to title this. (If you can think of a more accurate title, please suggest!) I work from home (mostly) and I get really into my work, probably like many of you. But this happens to me frequently and I'm wondering if it happens to you all:
I give a massage session to a client. I leave and go wash my hands, then I come back a few minutes later to take their money and book their next massage. Problem is I am frequently TOTALLY SPACED OUT! : I get so into my work and doing the massage I get into a completely different space. And when I come back and start to talk to them...I am generally okay about giving them recommendations for exercises or asking them about life changes they could make...but once it comes to numbers, booking dates in the appointment book, I get really stupid! I have to stare at the appointment pages for a while to really get what I am seeing (My client will ask, regarding the next appointment "does that work?" quesitoningly, as she watches me stare at my book)
???
I feel kind of embarassed about this. I haven't made any booking mistakes yet. I'm just spacey. I will frequently forget that they need to book another appointment until they remind me "So, you want to book for next time?" OH YEAH!!!!!!! lol
I know this is a result of me getting really into the "space" where I do my best work, merging with the tissue and listening to what the tissue needs.
Any ideas how I can come back from it, gently yet effectively, in my few minutes between leaving the client and coming back to them? Or any other useful words? I'm open to any thoughts on the matter. I'm generally very good at that kind of linear thing (numbers, booking appointments, logical thought, etc) just not after giving a massage.
