Hi everyone
I have nasty sciatica which is believed to be caused by a prolapsed disk - it's so bad that I've been off work for the past 5 weeks. My primary therapy for this is osteopathy (formerly chiropractic) but today I had a reflexology treatment to relax me and help with the pain. Because I twanged my spine when climbing onto the treatment couch I was in oodles of pain with the spasms. It calmed down as I relaxed, and the treatment progressed.
I have a couple of questions for you please.
1. my spine points on left, and right foot didn't hurt, at all (despite 'real' spine pain!). I was surprised by that.
2. my shoulder and neck points according to the therapist had loads of crunchy bits in them... which she thought was tension. But she didn't notice anything anywhere on the spine.
I do feel more relaxed, and I actually (by choice) went for a walk after the session... for about 30 mins. This is significant. I am wondering though about the spine and why neither I, nor she, noticed anything. Is that pretty normal? Can I say though that when she did that twisty rolly whole foot relax thing was when the muscle spasms stopped the most. I asked her if that was twisting (relaxing) the spine, but she said it was just to relax the foot. It was delightful though. I would happily have paid for an hour of just that!
Thanks!
