Spring Marketing Ideas????

This is probably one of my favorite subjects on this board.  I have new therapists asking how I built my business all the time.  I say, one of the most important things is how you market yourself.  I have been very creative in the past.  Some things have worked great and some, not so great.  Is anyone doing anything special to bring in new business this spring?  I am not sure If I am going to do anything.  I have been pretty busy and sometimes have overbooked myself since the new year, and my hands are starting to hurt again.   But, I know you have to constantly market yourself.  I would love to hear what others are doing!Peace!

I heard a great one on another forum.  Someone suggested sending postcards to preferred clients (that is, ALL your clients!) letting them know that they will be invited to do an "egg hunt".  Essentially, you buy some cheap plastic eggs which you can fill with candy and a slip indicating a prize.  One example of a prize can be a CD; another can be an aromatherapy candle; and then, you can give $5, $10, $15, and $20 discounts, and maybe even one at 50% off.  I prefer to do the monetary discounts over the prizes, as I know that will get the clients to call.  On the postcards, let them know what they could win, but that no matter what, they will definitely win something off their massage.

art_of_zen, while that sounds like a fun idea, think clients would do it? I personally would probably not go looking for eggs for discounts on massage. Instead, this sounds like a great idea to do at an Open House event for spring, where you could hide eggs all over the building (would only really work in a relatively large space) in decorations and whatnot.What about if you got the office you rent space from (or if you rent a building, all buildings that the landlord leases, sort of like a networking thing) to host a bar-be-que or some type of picnic, where yourself and other business owners have snacks, food, drinks, etc. This would bring in new potential clients for you, get your name out for being involved in the community, and network with other businesses in your area? You could either offer free chair massage or discount coupons. I personally like discount coupons, as those can be given to other people that you don't get to meet, and I rarely have a free chair client become a paying table client.Heh, gears in my head are turning, I think I may start planning a picnic now...

I'm thinking about sending out postcards to remind people to get GC's for Mother's Day. I'm thinking about putting together some gift bags with some homemade items along with a gc, like a handmade flaxseed eye-pillow, a candle, maybe lotion or massage oil.

Maybe I should rephrase what I was trying to describe:I didn't actually mean that the clients go "hunting" for the eggs; I should have added that once you fill the eggs and determine the prizes, you would then put them in a basket, set them on a counter or table, and let people pick their egg out of the basket when they come in for their appointment.  Whatever is in their egg is what they'll win.My clients have always responded to discounts.... I usually give between $10-$15 off.  many of them will come in and give me the full amount anyway; I have nice clients  ;D ....Sorry for the blunder; maybe I should have C&P'ed the post I first read it on, because it sounded so much better told by her....hehe!  But, then again, that would be plagiarism.... hehe!

These are all great ideas.  About 85% of my clients buy pre-paid packages, so they are already getting big discounts, so I can't discount anymore.  Katy, I like your idea!  Where do you get the eye pillows?  I have made some in the past, but I did not enjoy the sewing aspect.  I am not very good at using a sewing machine.  BUt they did turn out very nicely.  I bought the flax seed from a feed store and it was really cheap.  I should consider doing it again!  Thanks!

A friend of mine in Michigan makes these great pillows that have rice and scented herbs?  I'm not sure excatly what herbs...I will have to find out.  But, she makes them in all sizes and uses pillow case material in all colors.  You can use them the microwave to keep warm for a long period of time.   These would be great to sell or give away to clients.  There pretty cheap to make.

Sandy, I make my eyepillows. I use flaxseeds, and add dried French Blue Lavender to some of them. French Blue has such a soft scent, it's heavenly... I use a black silk-type fabric for the bottom, and something fancy for the top. The last bunch I made I used an asian cherry blossoms designed fabric.
