Squeeky table! What do I do?

So this table is squeekin and such when I'm workin and it's no fun for anyone.

It seems to come from a particular quadrant (one by the client's head!) but I can't seem to isolate it more than that. Any tips on figuring out what's causing it and how to fix it?

It's a metal table with all kinds of wires/cords underneath.

Is it adjustable? I ask because one that I work on seems to squeak but only at a certain height. Not very handy, It really sucks. :?

Since it's a metal table, try some WD-40 at the joints/connections.

some manufacturers will help you remedy the situation, so maybe try calling them to see if they can offer any help. I also know that many manufacturers use felt pads in high friction areas (like between the table leg and extension on wood tables). If you could isolate the spot, maybe a felt pad could help? If it sounds like it is coming from teh face rest area, take out the face rest and check all the nuts to make sure they are tight. They can be notorious squeakers.

I hope you find a solution, squeaky tables are annoying!

Mine creaks a fair amount too...what brand is yours? Mine is a Custom Craftworks, and I really like it. I'm disappointed that it's noisy, altough no clients have complained.

I think that the creaks are coming from the stabilizing cord connection points on mine, and I doubt that changing the height would help.

I have a Golden Ratio Master Bodyworker (centerlock version) that make noises until I discover that it was the rubber feet that makes friction aginst the floor and the noise get amplified through the table. Puttin a carpet under the table solve the problem completely. I also recognised that small pieces of anti slip rubber under the legs also works. Try if it helps for you.

As a temporary solution, can you swap the face cradle to the other end of the table?

The same thing happened to my table... I have moved thing around, changed heights, put washers and WD40... nothing worked... I guess it is just from use...

We used to rub soap around the friction points. Bar soap can be a hassle because you have to loosen the joint to get to the friction point. A spot of liquid detergent might work in a pinch. I admit it works best on wood tables but give it a try. The reasoning is soap is the base of some lubricants but is thick enough to stay in place. WD40 is pretty crappy lube IMO.

Unfortunately this is one reason a table will cost $200 and another will cost $600.
