Tommy Dean Murphy, of St. Augustine, was booked into the St. Johns County jail on a single count of sexual battery, a news release from the police department said.
According to Murphy’s arrest report, the incident was said to have occurred in June.
The news release said that the woman was receiving a massage when Murphy “began to massage her pubic area for some time.”
The woman told investigators “she was in shock and froze, not moving until Murphy was finished,” the release said.
Murphy was arrested after an interview with detectives.
As of press time, he was still in custody, being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
Ponte Vedra woman charged with aggravated assault
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 67-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach woman on Wednesday morning after a crew of concrete workers said she threatened them with a rifle while they were beginning to work near her house.
Judy Hunter Shivers, who lives on Coconut Palm Parkway, was booked into the county jail on a single count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill after the 7:30 a.m. incident, a report from the Sheriff’s Office says.
The deputy who filled out the report said that upon his arrival at the scene he found “several concrete workers were hiding behind their concrete trucks.”
In an affidavit, filled out later, one worker said that Shivers’ husband was upset with them as they were beginning their work, saying that a “slab” was on his property.
“His wife then came out with a gun and told everyone to go, as she pointed it at everyone,” the worker wrote.
Another said that Shivers was only about 20 feet from him when she pointed the gun at his face.
Shivers’ husband allowed a deputy inside their home where he recovered an unloaded .22 caliber rifle from a bedroom closet. Shivers was taken into custody without further incident, the report says.
18-year-old Georgia man arrested on robbery charge
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old Georgia man after authorities said he attacked a woman on Crescent Beach on Thursday morning.
Christopher C. Snellgrove, of Hahira, Georgia, was arrested on a charge of robbery without a weapon and resisting an officer without violence, a Sheriff’s Office report says.
According to the report, the woman told a Sheriff’s Office detective that she was sunbathing in a lounge chair near the ramp around 8:30 a.m. when a man, later identified as Snellgrove, struck her multiple times with a closed fist in her head and left shoulder, causing bruising and swelling to her eye, cheek, shoulder and mouth.
During the incident, Snellgrove is said to have taken the woman’s phone and thrown it in the surf.
A passerby who saw the commotion called 911 and deputies eventually spotted someone matching witnesses’ description of the man at the Circle K convenience store nearby.
When confronted, Snellgrove is said to have run into the adjacent neighborhood and was found later hiding on a screened-in porch about four blocks away.
After he was taken into custody, he told investigators that the woman “gave him a look, which made him feel like a bum” and said later that he was planning on asking the woman for money, according to the report.
As of Thursday evening he was being held without bond.
