ST. CHARLES, IL - A St. Charles massage parlor has closed its doors following a March 15 police sting where the owner of the business was charged with performing a massage without a license.
The Daily Herald reports the owner of Lotus Spa, at 1700 Lincoln Highway, Unit J, in St. Charles, told police she was planning to get her license but then turned in her keys shortly after her arrest. Lotus Spa had leased the building, which was next door to a Montessori School, from Shodeen Inc., the Daily Herald reports.
Police conducted an undercover operation on March 15 targeting businesses that offer massages in town, police said. The employee at Lotus Spa, Fenglan Smythe, 50, 979 Golf Course Road, Apt. 1 in Crystal Lake, was charged with practicing massage without a license during the sting.
Two other employees at massage parlors in town were charged with prostitution during the sting.

Xinnian Hu, 48, an employee at Best Massage, 2774 E. Main St.; and Ok Kim, 62, of Chicago, an employee at Main Spa, 504 E. Main Street, are both accused of offering to perform a sex act in exchange for money during the undercover operation, police said. Hu is also charged with practicing massage without a license.
The owners of Best Massage entered a guilty plea before the city's alcohol, tobacco and massage commission on Monday afternoon while the owners of Main Spa entered a not guilty plea, the Daily Herald reports.
